AECOM move to St James Court
The 32-strong team has moved from Thorpe Road to Jarrold’s latest office development at 3 St James Court, Whitefriars, part of the St James Place business quarter development.
AECOM, along with its colleagues from international property and construction consultancy Davis Langdon, moved into the new offices on 23 September. From 1 October Davis Langdon will be known as AECOM in Europe, the Middle East and the Americas. The change of name reflects the ability of the integrated business to provide local and national clients with the full spectrum of services from feasibility studies to design concepts through to project delivery and asset management.
The new office is part of outline planning consent, obtained by Jarrold & Sons Ltd, to develop a new business quarter for Norwich close to the heart of the city centre. The redevelopment site includes 165,000 sq ft of office space built to date. In addition to AECOM, it has already secured other prestigious tenants including Grant Thornton, DEFRA, Mills & Reeve, Birketts, Amlin, Barclays, and most recently PwC. Once complete, the wider site will include further offices, a hotel, residential properties, shops and a multi-storey car park.
In addition to being a tenant, AECOM has also been heavily involved in providing cost management services for Jarrold’s in their development of the site. To date, these projects have included demolition works, new infrastructure, two new office buildings and the delivery of an award-winning bridge.
Dudley George, Head of AECOM’s Norwich office, said, “AECOM has held a presence in Norwich for 67 years. This is a key local market for us as a firm and one we are keen to maintain our commitment to. Having the opportunity to not only move closer to the heart of Norwich’s business quarter, but also to be involved with the city’s wider regeneration plans has been great for our team. We are now even better placed to deliver for the local community and its businesses and to bring the strength of our collaborative AECOM offering to the region.”
David Hill, Executive Chairman of Jarrold, said “We are delighted that AECOM has decided to locate its growing team in our latest office building. As Davis Langdon, the team has been closely involved in supporting the ongoing development of this new business quarter. Their decision to recognise its special attributes in offering modern and efficient office accommodation close to the business hub of the city, alongside existing high profile tenants, is yet another recognition of the attractiveness of the site and the opportunities it offers for the business community.”
